Officer Jack - Book 5 - Baby's Breath
Office Jack and Officer Kate are in the airport terminal waiting to fly to Washington, DC, when a woman screams, “Help Me! My baby’s not breathing! Somebody, help me! Officer Kate knows how to help her, but a scanner conveyor belt blocks her path to the frantic mother. Can she get there in time to save the baby? |
Acknowledgement: This Officer Jack episode is based upon a real response conducted by TSA officer Cecilia Morales at Newark Liberty International Airport on December 9, 2021, when she climbed over a conveyor belt system at a security checkpoint to reach a mother whose baby had suddenly stopped breathing. Morales, on the job for only two months, performed the infant version of the Heimlich maneuver. She placed the baby face down on her arm, patted him on the back, and succeeded in getting him breathing again. She stayed with the baby until a pediatric EMT arrived who gave the baby oxygen. Thomas Carter, the TSA’s federal security director for New Jersey, said, “Officer Morales’s quick reaction and actions helped ensure this family had a happy holiday season. Her actions were inspiring.
